The Impact of Unemployment on Mental & Physical Health in tikrit City

Abstract

Background: Unemployment can be defined as a group of people not working at this time, but they have ability to work, and they strongly want to work. The goals of this project to assess the mental health of unemployment people among Tikrit cities. Subject and method: a cross sectional study was conducted in Tikrit city from 1st of November 2018 till end of March 2019 among unemployed people in Tikrit. Sample size was 200 of which 123 were males and 78 were females. Samples were selected by simple random sample. The collection of data was b a questionnaire which administered by interview and by E-mail questionnaire Results: from the total of 200 unemployed people 132 (61,5%) were male and 77 (38.5%) were females. The body mass index of unemployed people showed 119 (59.5%) are obese, while 81 (31.5%) are normal weight. The mental health assessment showed that (39%) have a bad mental health and (62%) have a good mental health. Conclusion: the number of unemployment people is increasing in Tikrit city about (61.5%) of males and (38.5%) of females are unemployed and need financial support for their daily lives. Aim: Identify the relationship between unemployment and menta and physical health. Objectives

1-Clarify the mental and physical health among unemployment people in Tikrit according to the age, gender, & BMI.

2-Asses the mental behavior of unemployment persons towards their families and the community.

3-To know the economic support that they can provide for their living.

 4-To find the number of unemployed people who smoke or drug addicts.

5-Identify the BMI of unemployed people.
