Assessment of Mothers' Knowledge Regarding Infant with Jaundice Health Care in Intensive Care Unit at Pediatric Teaching Hospitals

Background: the most prevalent clinical issue during the neonatal period is jaundice (hyperbilirubinemia) which is the discoloration of skin and sclera color to yellowish in a neonate by bilirubin especially in the first week of life. Aims of study (1) Assess mothers 'knowledge regarding of newborn jaundice. (2) To find out relationship between mother's knowledge and demographic characteristic (level of Education,Occupation). Methods: in pediatric teaching hospitals a descriptive analytical study was on mothers' knowledge of neonatal jaundice care was carried out using a purposive (nonprobability) sample. The present study starting from (1 August 2022 to the 18 October 2022). 150 mothers made up the sample size for this descriptive analytical study. Spss was used to evaluate the data after they had been entered into Microsoft Excel .13 Results: According to the research indicated that the majority of age group were (more than 30) in this study. The most of participants in the educational level were only a secondary degree. In term of occupation, the majority of research participant were a housewife. Conclusion: the majority of the sample had a secondary degree and there was highly significant relationship between mothers` knowledge and their occupation as well as level of education. Recommendations: Special educational programs and should be provide involvement of electronic media are needed to. increase the awareness of mothers regarding care for neonate jaundice.
